Lacinato Kale in Smoky Garlic Sauce Clean Recipe

Lacinato Kale in Smoky Garlic Sauce

This is literally one of my favorite side dishes EVER, and will be a new addition to our #Family#Thanksgiving table! Smoky braised kale with tomato sauceMakes 6 servings

Ingredients:

  • 2 Tbsps avocado oil, extra-virgin olive oil 
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 6 fresh garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • .5 cup organic tomato sauce
  • 1.5 tsps smoked paprika
  • sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup broth (vegetable, organic chicken, or beef)
  • 2 Tbsp red wine vinegar
  • 4 (3/4-pound) bunches washed lacinato kale , thick stems cut out, leaves cut into thick
  • strips (about 14 packed cups total)

Healthy Lacinato Kale in Smoky Garlic Sauce

Instructions:

Place a large pot or Dutch oven over medium-high heat and add oil.

Once hot, add onions and garlic and stir until they begin to turn translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add tomato sauce and smoked paprika, broth and vinegar.

Reduce heat to medium and bring to a boil.

Add the kale, cover, and cook for a minute or two, until it begins to wilt.

Stir well to combine and simmer until tender, for about 25 minutes.

Season with sea salt and pepper if needed.

Enjoy!
