Product Description

A new spin on our classic design Before the introduction of the OXO Good Grips Salad Spinner in 1998, crank or pull-tab salad spinners were considered high-end products. Some people even used the spin cycle of their washing machine to dry lettuce. Our easy-to-use Spinner transformed the tool into an everyday kitchen essential. Nearly 20 years later, we revisited the Spinner to make some updates while keeping the top features and original inspiration: a children’s top. With a modern design that complements contemporary kitchens and an improved brake that stops on a dime every time, we think you’ll love our new spin on the classic design. Dry salad greens with a simple press of the soft, non-slip knob. The non-slip base keeps the bowl steady on the countertop, and the updated built-in brake button stops the Salad Spinner for unloading. The basket doubles as a colander, and the lid comes apart for easy cleaning.

Does an amazing job keeping your greens and berries fresh longer!
I already own quite a number of OXO kitchen gadgets that have done rather well for me throughout the years. When I decided to purchase a salad spinner I didn’t need to spend much time comparing and analyzing spinners since I figured anything OXO would do. I just needed to check the reviews for any possible issues and select one. Frankly, I don’t care about all the bells and whistles, I just wanted something simple that gets the job done and is easy to clean. This is it! It has one job and does it extremely well... spin-dry. You pump, it spins, letting centrifugal force take over to separate water from your leaves into the outer bowl! The speed is controlled by your pumping action and frequency (use one or both hands for turbo mode). Your regular more sturdy leafy greens (romaine, iceberg, kale, spinach etc) get my turbo mode for a fast spin and dry. Fragile items that you want undamaged (berries & herbs), you want a lighter touch, slower pump action to complete the job without tearing or shredding your cargo. It really is amazing how the complete removal of water from cracks and crevices can extend the life of your produce keeping them fresh and crisp. Doing it by hand was time consuming and a pain in the you-know-what, but the spinner really makes a difference doing the same job in just a few seconds. The biggest upside: Salad spinner + produce = longer lasting produce + less trips to the store! I’ve even gotten bold in my old age and have started buying Sam’s Club restaurant size ‘mega packs’ of romaine heads! After spinning, the heads are wrapped in paper towel, stored in zip lock bags, and stay fresh all month long! Yep, no more running to the store for that one head of lettuce! Strawberries and blueberries (ditto) and elderberries & raspberries (about 3 weeks) without mold, discoloration or starting to shrivel! Herbs are a different matter. I grow my own herbs so I cut fresh as needed (daily or for dried) which is always used up within days. The spinner is easy to use and the basket has a nice capacity that serves my needs (one sm-med head romaine at a time). - Just pump and watch it go! When you need to put on the brakes, simply push the button on the side and watch it come to a full stop. The spinner is dishwasher safe and easy to clean. If there is anything you’ll learn from using a spinner is ‘wet’ sticks better to ‘dry’ for better coverage that includes salad dressing to your dried greens! It’s an awesome kitchen tool and can be considered a multi-purpose item which helped me justify the space it uses (approximately 8” in height, 10.5” in diameter). -Other things I have had success using the OXO spinner for: - Noodles! The basket & bowl is durable enough to act as a strainer and to spin hot & wet macaroni, spirals, bows, shells etc. for salads. - Tomatoes! To remove seeds and/or extra juices when making homemade pasta sauce. - Bok Choy & Broccolini! For deep cleaning of dirt & to remove excess water. - Eggplant! To remove excess moisture after salting. - French fries! To remove excess moisture on homemade fries before deep frying. - Serving Bowl! No need to look for a large serving bowl when you have guests. Remove the basket and the outer bowl is great for tossing and serving your salad. - Dome! Flip the bowl upside down and it covers a devil eggs serving plate as well as cakes & pies. Overall, it’s a quick and efficient way to spin dry fruits, vegetables and herbs to remove excess water and prolong the life of your produce. You will not be disappointed by its performance and end result!

One of the things I love most about Oxo is that it's not a company to rest on its laurels. Even when they have a perfectly great product on the market, they look for ways to make it even better. And with this latest version of their salad spinner, Oxo has done it again!

I had the previous version for more years than I can remember--the darned thing was bulletproof. And I'd still be using it now if a clueless house guest hadn't stuck its spinner top cover in the bottom rack of my dishwasher with the wash cycle set for extra hot water. As you might expect, the plastic warped and that was that.

I was concerned that the new model couldn't measure up to the old one, but to my pleasant surprise it was improved in every way. The plastics throughout look and feel to be of higher quality, the appearance is far more attractive, the new compact design takes up less space in my cabinet and the spinner mechanism works as well as ever. What's not to love?! So bravo, Oxo, for once again being the company for which great isn't good enough.

Thank you for taking the time to read my review and I hope you find it helpful in making a buying decision!

While I am pretty lazy about actually rinsing off my salad mixes (especially the ones that claim to be pre-washed in the grocery store packages), I decided to try out a salad spinner as I am an avid cook and love adding to my kitchen cookware and gadget collection. This item was awesome. I love Oxo products as they are usually very good quality and very sturdy. No complaints here on both those sides with this product.

I use it more for rinsing berries than for anything else and it easily allows me to rinse, strain and spin them dry without damaging the delicate berries like raspberries.

It is a bit large (which I wanted for bigger serving size) but still fits fine into our standard side by side refrigerator. Though it does take up a bit of space.

Clean up is a breeze, it all fits in the dishwasher and comes apart easily. Sits sturdy on my counter when I am 'spinning' and doesn't slide around. It also easily stops with the push button on top. What I love most is getting to see all the water that came off the items I spun when I am finished. Nothing like pouring out the excess water when I'm done using it! :)

Definitely recommend for those looking for this type of kitchen accessory.

Reviewed in the United Kingdom on March 6, 2019
Absolutely brilliant salad spinner- dries beautifully without squishing even young salad leaves. Bowl can be used to serve in as well. Only very small down side is that the inside of the lid is a little bulky, but is a such a great product that I just don’t mind. Everything but the spin bit I’ve put through the dishwasher.

This spinner is great. The function of the push down spinner is neat. Seems like it will last longer than my last silicon bowl spinner. The bowl is actually pretty nice, and you can serve out of it without feeling like you are serving out of a spinner bowl. classy!
