Firecracker Beef Bowls

This Firecracker Beef Bowl recipe is the perfect blend of spicy and sweet, with a kick of heat from the crushed red pepper flakes and a drizzle of hot sauce in the Firecracker Sauce.

Ingredients 

  • 1 1/2 lbs ground beef or bison
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 fresh garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • 12 ozs sweet mini peppers, thinly sliced
  • 4 medium carrots, thinly sliced

Firecracker Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup hot sauce of your choice
  • 1/3 cup raw honey
  • 1/4 cup coconut aminos, tamari, Braggs liquid aminos, or low sodium soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup unseasoned rice vinegar

To make your bowls:

  • 2 cups cooked brown rice or quinoa
  • 4 cups steamed broccoli
  • sliced green onions

Instructions 

  • Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat and cook your ground meat, while mincing it with a wooden spoon.
  • Once the beef is no longer pink, drain any excess grease. Stir in your sea salt, onion, garlic, and red pepper flakes. Continue to cook, stirring often for 5 minutes. If it starts to brown too quickly, add a bit of water.
  • Pour in the firecracker sauce over your meat then add the peppers and carrots.
  • Continue to cook for about 8 minutes more.
  • To assemble your bowls, add 1/2 cup cooked brown rice or quinoa in each bowl.
  • Top each with equally firecracker beef then add steamed broccoli next to it.
  • Garnish with green onions and enjoy!
