Alcohol-Free Strawberry Margaritas ðŸ¹ðŸŒ´ðŸ“
Anyone who knows me, knows I enjoy a good homemade strawberry margarita out on the patio throughout the summer months – goes especially well with the delightful conversation of a dear friend or two.
This summer I have some big personal health and fitness goals that likely won’t happen if there are ***too many*** cocktails being enjoyed out on the patio. Ain’t it the truth though?!!
In celebration of summer and working towards healthier lifestyles, I’ve decided to create & share a bunch of “mocktails” on the website during June.
So if you’re wanting to go Alcohol-Free a bit more often, I’ve got you covered with lots of refreshing, delicious, and creative cocktail alternatives!
Let’s celebrate this beautiful life with beautiful food & drink.
âž¡ï¸ What does “Muddle” Mean?
Muddling is a technique used for drinks to gently mash berries, herbs (like fresh mint or basil leaves), or fruit (like lemon or orange wedges), to release their juices, natural oils, and flavors. We don’t want to mash things into a pulp – just a few firm presses with a wooden spoon or spatula will do the trick!
🎯 ALWAYS use freshly-squeezed lemon/lime juice from an actual fresh lemon/lime. Bottled lemon juice from the store will give your drink a strange metallic or overly acidic taste.
2 servings
Ingredients:
- sea salt flakes
- zest of 1 fresh lime
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, muddled
- 2 cups ice
- 1 jalapeno, thinly sliced
- lime wedges
- 1/2 cup grapefruit juice, freshly squeezed
- 1/4 cup lime or lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- 1 Tbsp raw honey or pure maple syrup
- splash of sparkling water
Instructions:
To make your lime salt combine the lime zest and sea salt on a shallow plate as shown. Run a fresh lime wedge over the rim of your glasses. Rim (gently press) your glasses in your salt mixture.
Muddle the strawberries into 2 glasses. Fill each glass with ice to your preference. Add in jalapeno slices and a lime wedge.
Equally divide your fresh-squeezed grapefruit, lime, or lemon juice and raw honey into each glass. Give it all a gentle stir.
Top with a splash of sparkling water.
Enjoy immediately!
Cheers!
