Meet Cheryl, Who Didn’t Think She Could Lose More Than 5lbs At Age 60. She Lost 40lbs!
I’m Cheryl. I live with my amazing husband of 33 years in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, which is a suburb of Cleveland. We have two adult children, who are both out of the house. We have two cats and a dog. I am an international trademark paralegal, and have been a paralegal for over 25 years, working in various areas of law. I love to travel, having been to 46 states. My current travel plan is for a girls trip with 3 friends up into New England later this month.
I found CFC through Facebook almost 2 years ago, a friend shared a recipe and I followed the link. I started following the general CleanFoodCrush Facebook page and trying recipes from the website in January of 2021. But I didn’t take the leap and sign up for a 30-Day Clean Eating Challenge until the one that started March 1, 2022.
My greatest obstacles to eating healthy prior to clean eating were time and stress. I was the main caregiver helping my mom, who had both of her lower legs amputated in 2018 due to type 2 diabetes. Plus I work full time.
I felt like I never had time to take care of myself. My mom passed away in February of 2022.
I am also a type 2 diabetic and did NOT want to wind up like my mom. However, in late February when I went for an appointment with my doctor, my A1C blood work number was 11.7. I knew I was absolutely on the path to also losing my lower limbs if I did not get serious about taking care of myself.
The day I received my bloodwork A1C number, I signed up for the March 1st 30-Day Challenge.
From the very first day, I just felt so much better.
Maybe it was partially mental, but I know it was physical too. I was eating whole foods for the first time in a very long time.
➡️ I was not eating junk.
➡️ I was not drinking diet pop.
➡️ I was not eating fast food.
➡️ I was just eating really great food.

I never felt hungry.
I truly have not been hungry in my several months on this plan. I just feel SO much better.
➡️ I have more energy.
➡️ I can walk better.
➡️ I sleep better.
➡️ I just have a more positive outlook.
The cost of being a monthly member is less than I used to spend on fast food in a month!
My favorite recipes from the CFC blog are the blender banana oatmeal muffins. Oh my goodness!! I typically add in ¼ cup fresh blueberries, and ¼ chopped walnuts. I truly feel like I’m eating bakery muffins when I have these. I also LOVE the chicken meatballs. There are a few ways to have these (the BBQ ones are delicious!) but the basic recipe is the same. These are great with ½ cup of either brown rice or sweet potatoes! Also – love the creamy garlic salad dressing! I had never tried to make homemade dressing prior to CFC. I had no idea how fresh salad dressing could taste!
I am now down 40 lbs. I have a lot more to lose, but at my age (60) I never thought I would be able to lose more than 5 pounds!
I was hesitant to take the leap and Join the Challenge – what if the food plan was all tofu, peppers, onions and avocado (none of which I like)? That would be awful for me. Or worse – to have to purchase special packaged food from CFC.
Luckily, I could not have been more wrong. I LOVE all of the food choices and options available to members – literally something for everyone to choose from. And the recipes are amazing!
