Once you start making your own spice mixes at home, it’s hard to go back to those store-bought blends.
Homemade is far superior in quality and affordability.
Especially if you can find bulk spices at a local co-op or specialty store.
âž¡ï¸Homemade Cajun Seasoning Mix:
4 Tbsps Smoked Paprika
2 Tbsps Onion Powder
2 Tbsps Garlic Powder
2 Tbsps Oregano
1 Tbsps Dried Thyme
1 Tbsp Dried Parsley
2 tsps Black Pepper (freshly ground)
2 tsps White Pepper
1/2 tsp Cayenne Pepper (optional, adds heat)
Add all spices to a medium-sized bowl and toss to combine well. Store in an airtight jar.
6 servings
Ingredients:
-
2 Tbsps avocado oil, ghee, or olive oil, divided
-
1 lb. steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
-
1 lb. raw shrimp, peeled and deveined
-
2 medium zucchinis, cut into quarter slices
-
1 bunch asparagus, chopped
-
1 cup red bell pepper, chopped
-
4 green onions, white parts chopped into 1/2 -inch pieces, green parts thinly sliced to garnish
-
3 fresh garlic cloves, pressed
-
1 Tbsp Cajun seasoning
Instructions:
Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large heavy-bottom skillet over medium-high heat.
Add the steak pieces, sprinkle your steak with half of the Cajun seasoning, and cook to your liking, around 4-5 minutes for medium.
In the same preheated skillet add the shrimp and sprinkle with the remaining Cajun seasoning. Cook the shrimp until pink and opaque, about 4 minutes, stirring occasionally. Set aside on the plate next to the steak.
Add the remaining oil to your skillet and sauté the veggies for 5-7 minutes.
Season with sea salt and pepper, to your taste.
Once the veggies are tender-crisp, stir in the steak and shrimp.
Garnish with your chopped green onions.
Enjoy while hot!
