3 Ingredient Turtle Chocolate BitesðŸ¢â¤
Put these little cuties on your must-make list with the kids this holiday season!
I adore creating healthier homemade *simple* treats throughout December to share with neighbors and loved ones.
After I made these, I realized that a little fancy sea salt sprinkled on top would be a FABULOUS addition!
âž¡ï¸When shopping for ingredients:
Look for a higher percentage cacao for the chocolate chips, and always read ingredients.
I like to buy the highest quality I can find when it’s on SALE! I’m always keeping an eye out for a good deal, and will often stock up when a high quality product is on special.
Use any dark chocolate chips of your choice: the higher cacao percentage = more health benefits.
If you’re looking to keep sugars lower; try using Lily’s brand chocolate that is sweetened with stevia.
Makes about 16-20 turtle bites
Ingredients:
- 1 cup dark chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup raw almonds
- about 16-20 raw pecans, choose some nice whole ones, no dents or broken pieces allowed
Instructions:
Melt your chocolate chips in the microwave in 30 second increments, stirring after each, until chocolate is smooth. Or use a double broiler to melt it.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Spoon 1/2 Tablespoon dollop of melted chocolate onto your prepared baking sheet, making sure you leave some space in between to be able to form the turtles.
Next, place 4 almonds to each drop of chocolate, to create the turtle’s legs.
Top each with a pecan, gently pressing to adhere to the melted chocolate as shown.
Refrigerate the baking tray for 15 minutes to allow your chocolate to set.
Serve and enjoy!
Seal any leftovers & store in the fridge.
