The honey sauce is the real star of this show, made with fresh lime juice, raw honey, coconut aminos, and toasted sesame oil, which adds a rich, nutty flavor.

This dish is also incredibly versatile, allowing you to customize your bowls with your favorite grains, veggies, and toppings! Let’s get cooking!

Enjoy your delicious Honey Sauce Chicken Bowls!

🍋 ALWAYS use freshly-squeezed lime juice from an actual fresh lime. Bottled lime juice from the store will give your dish a strange metallic or overly acidic taste.

We want this dish fresh & bright!

Want to get the most juice possible from each of your fresh limes? Of course, we do! Here’s a quick trick:

On your counter or a cutting board, press and roll the lime back and forth very firmly with your hands.

The rolling loosens and breaks down some of the citrus membranes and makes the outside a little more pliable.

This makes it easier to squeeze which also means you’ll likely get more juice from your squeeze. We all want more juice from the squeeze!

Let me know how this works for you!

4 servings

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tbsp avocado oil, ghee, organic unrefined coconut oil, or olive oil
  • 1 lb ground chicken
  • 3 fresh garlic cloves, pressed
  • 2 cups frozen garden peas
  • 2 carrots, shredded

Honey Sauce:

  • 1 fresh lime, juiced
  • 1 Tbsp arrowroot powder or cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup raw honey
  • 1/4 cup coconut aminos, tamari, Braggs liquid aminos, or low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 tsps toasted sesame oil

To serve:

cooked brown rice, quinoa and/or cauliflower rice
sliced green onions
sesame seeds

Instructions:

Start by making your honey sauce. In a small bowl, whisk the lime juice together with the arrowroot until smooth. Add the remaining ingredients for your sauce and stir to combine well.

Heat your oil of choice in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the chicken while breaking it up with a spatula.

Once the chicken starts to brown, add the peas and carrots then cook, stirring frequently for 5-6 minutes.

Pour over the honey sauce and stir to coat.

Continue to cook for 3-4 minutes, until your sauce thickens.

To assemble your bowls, add a 1/2 cup of cooked brown rice and/or cauliflower rice to each bowl.

Top evenly with your honey chicken.

Sprinkle with sesame seeds and green onions as desired.

Enjoy!
