Apple + Bacon “Sandwiches” ðŸŽðŸ¥“🧀
Just for FUN!!
This Juicy-Sweet-Apple & Crispy-Salty-Bacon combo is surprisingly wonderful!
If you’re looking for a special and very unique snack to serve this weekend, you’ve just found it!
We eat bacon a few times each month at our house because it’s something we (REALLY, REALLY) enjoy!
Note: There are many high-quality bacon options available these days. Look for nitrate-free, and humanly raised if possible. Always read the ingredients so you know what you’re really buying.
Makes 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 8 thin bacon slices, nitrate-free
- 2 large apples, cored
- fresh lemon wedges
- 4 thin slices of cheddar cheese
- chopped pecans, to garnish
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 400 degrees f. and line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
Arrange your bacon slices without overlapping them onto the prepared sheet pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 min, or until nice & crispy, and done to your liking.
Alternatively, you can cook the bacon on the stovetop.
Set aside on a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess grease.
Cut your apples into 1/2 inch thick slices.
To prevent the apple from browning, rub a lemon wedge over both sides of the apple slices.
To assemble your apple sandwiches place one apple slice on a plate or serving board.
Top with crispy bacon and cheddar.
Then, sandwich with the second slice of apple.
Sprinkle with chopped pecans if desired for texture.
Repeat with remaining ingredients.
Serve and enjoy!
