Clean Food Love

Hey there 🙂

My name is Beth, and I am a 47-year-old wife and Mom to a 20 yr old daughter in college and a 14-year-old son who is in middle school.

I was recently invited to share my journey with the 30 Day Clean Eating Challenge, and I said yes! It’s an honor to share what I’ve learned with you, I hope my story serves as inspiration for you on your own path with Eating Clean.

About 6 years ago, I lost a bunch of weight doing serious workouts and eating healthy and felt great.

When we moved 2.5 yrs ago away from everything I knew, I found myself depressed and a bit isolated. I gained 14 lbs and was so upset with myself.

I was working out by myself at home and decided I just needed to get out and meet people. I joined Barre3 and the local Mom’s Club in my township and suddenly encountered a ton of ladies and was being invited to all kinds of social events. Those social events often involved wine and foods that I wasn’t eating much of before, and the weight began creeping up.

My husband works late and has a long commute, so often times, I would eat with my kids and then sit down with him later with a glass of wine and snack away. I spent a lot of time eating and hanging out in the kitchen for comfort. Those calories added up!

We would eat out often to try new places, and I would eat out with the ladies for events. I found myself craving carbs like pita chips, crackers, and wine and didn’t like the feeling of not being in control of what I was eating.

Mindless eating quickly led to the scale moving up. I knew how to eat and what, but I needed the structure and support from a meal plan and a group. I kept seeing CleanFoodCrush recipes that looked amazing and knew I could incorporate them into our lifestyle.

My husband was feeling bloated from the holidays, and his clothes weren’t comfortable, so I decided to sign up for the challenge and had him eat what I ate.

The first week, I could see the changes in my thinking and how I was feeling. By the end of week 1, my craving for carbs, sugar, and wine were gone!

  • I started sleeping through the night, and that was amazing as I’ve had insomnia for years.
  • I had more energy throughout the day and never felt hungry.
  • I lost 4 lbs and 1.5 inches off my waist!

  • Each week I could see and feel a difference, especially in my waist and when I wore jeans.
  • I wasn’t bloated and felt better overall.
  • Each week, I added in different food and found that keeping carbs earlier in the day for breakfast and lunch worked best for me. Dinner was protein and veggies.

By the end of the challenge, I had lost 7 lbs and 2 inches in my waist. People were starting to notice my results…

My husband felt the same. He stopped drinking creamer in his coffee which was huge! He drank more water and didn’t want beer as often on weekends. We changed a few things that my son was eating to cleaner versions, and he was accepting of them. My daughter is interested in trying the meals when she comes home from college.

For those who are thinking about doing the challenge, just do it! It’s incredible how we can wire our taste-buds for carbs and sugar, and we can also wire ourselves to crave CLEAN foods too!

I contemplated taking the 30 Day Clean Eating Challenge for weeks, and I only wish I had done it sooner. If only I could have known how good I would feel.

For those newcomers, follow the meal plan, and drink lots of water. You will get results. This is a lifestyle, not a diet, and by the end of 4 weeks, you will become more comfortable with meal planning and prepping and will learn to appreciate your food and enjoy it rather than going through the drive-thru.

I’ve been able to go out to dinner and enjoy myself, and the scale continues to move. Enjoy the process, embrace the lessons you will learn, and enjoy the support you will receive from Rachel and her wonderful team.

❤️Beth Cady
