EASY Coconut Beef Bowls

Made with just a few simple ingredients, this EASY Beef Bowl is a flavor-packed meal that you will want to make again and again.

The steak bowl comes together quickly as it doesn’t require a ton of ingredients, and the steak is incredibly satisfying thanks to the simple and unique marinade.

Placing your steak in the freezer for just 30 minutes before slicing will help you to slice it thinly and evenly. It’s worth the extra step!

Don’t skip the marinade! The meat needs to soak up the flavors and come closer to room temperature after being in the freezer.

Any cut of steak will work well for this recipe, so grab whatever you can find ON SALE.

If you eat beef, you might want to consider making sure it comes from grass-fed cows!

A few highlights:

Grass-fed beef offers up to 5x the amount of omega-3 fatty acids as conventionally raised beef.

It’s also higher in conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), a type of fat that appears to be linked with a lower incidence of some chronic diseases.

Plus, it’s higher in vitamins A, E, and antioxidants compared to beef from cows that were fed grain.

You can buy grass-fed beef in most supermarkets … but a nearby farmer’s market can help you to find a great local source.

Because grass-fed is a little leaner than grain-fed beef, cook it at a lower temperature for a shorter time to avoid damaging the omega-3s.

4 servings

Ingredients:

4, 4-5 ounce sirloin steak or flank steak
2 Tbsps arrowroot powder, gluten-free flour, or cornstarch
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
2 Tbsps honey
sea salt and ground pepper, to taste
2 Tbsps unrefined organic coconut oil
1/4 cup coconut aminos, Braggs liquid aminos, or low-sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup canned, unsweetened coconut milk
optional: sesame seeds

Instructions:

Place your raw steaks in the freezer for exactly 30 minutes prior to starting the prep. Once 30 minutes are up, use a sharp chef’s knife to thinly slice each steak against the grain, into very thin 1/4 inch slices.

Place your thin sliced beef into a large bowl. Add arrowroot/cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, honey, sea salt, and pepper. Toss to coat all sides well.

Allow the meat to marinate for 30 minutes in this mixture on your counter.

Once ready to cook, preheat the coconut oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the meat in a single layer and cook undisturbed for 2 minutes.

We want to create a nice “crust” on our steak before adding in the wet ingredients. Add in your coconut liquid aminos and coconut milk, then continue to cook for 4-5 minutes while stirring frequently.

Serve with steamed broccoli or cauliflower, cooked quinoa, or brown rice.
Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired and enjoy!
