New Year’s resolutions abound, we’re all looking at the areas of our lives that could use improvement.
For many of us, our goal is to start Eating Clean, to lose weight, or to make more time for exercise. No matter what your goals look like, the reality is that in order to achieve results you require a plan. Better yet, having a supportive group of friends or family who know what your goals are and can cheer you on along the way makes a big difference.
Want to know the secret to making goal setting a fun family affair?
Here’s how you can create an inspiring event that all of your friends and family will remember for years to come. You might even find this becomes a new tradition!
Host a Vision Boarding or Goal Setting Party
Get your friends and family together and have everyone bring materials with them to create their own vision board. Everyone gets their own board, and it can be any size you like. On the board, pictures of people, places, and things you’d like to create in your life for the year can be glued together in a collage format. You can write quotes, notes, and goals clearly on the board that inspire you.
What to bring:
- A large piece of poster board or thick construction paper (small sizes for kids work great)
- Magazines for cutting out imagery
- Colored markers
- Colored pens
- Glue sticks
- Razor blades for refined cutting (optional)
- Watercolor paints and brushes (optional)
Creating an Inspiring Space Together
Choose healthy snacks like a harvest platter to enjoy together while you set your goals. Also, check out this list of CleanFoodCrush Snack Recipes you can create. Play music and make it a party! Clear space in the living room or an alternative space where everyone can cozy up and spread out their vision boards on the floor or at the table and create with one another.
It’s a nice idea to have everyone contribute materials that can be shared throughout the evening like stickers, different colored pencils, and magazines.
Have a Goal Setting Session First
For half an hour before starting the vision board, have everyone in the room share one or two of their top goals for the year out loud with the rest of the group. Not only is this a great way for them to create accountability by sharing their goals with others, but it lets you know how you can support them throughout the year. Plus, creating a space for open sharing at the beginning of the party is a bonding experience that brings everyone closer together. If you notice an image that perfectly suits someone else’s goal sharing at the beginning of the night, you can cut it out and share it with them as a warm gesture.
Put Your Vision Board on the Wall
At the end of the night, everyone will have their vision board to take home with them and put up on the wall or somewhere special. The vision board serves as a visual reminder to stick to your goals, and infuses a sense of inspiration and purpose into what you’re going after. And the sweetest part is, everyone will remember that night that was spent creating a vision for the future together on NYE.
