4 Ingredient Chocolate Bark
This is a REALLY FUN treat to make with the kids. It’s VERY SIMPLE so kiddos (and their adults) can make something beautifully homemade for the holidays without spending hours in the kitchen.
My 14-year-old daughter Sydney loves to toast the quinoa & zest the oranges. I encourage you to get the kids in the kitchen this week to make some memories together!
Toasted quinoa gives this chocolate bark a really special and unexpectedly delicious crispy texture and flavor.
I completely adore creating healthier homemade *simple* treats throughout December to share with neighbors and loved ones.
After we made this bark, I realized that a little fancy sea salt sprinkled on top would be a great addition! So use this idea as your starting point and let YOUR own creativity take over!
➡️ When shopping for ingredients:
Look for a higher percentage of cacao for the chocolate chips, and always read the ingredients.
I like to buy the highest quality I can find when it’s on SALE! I’m always keeping an eye out for a good deal, and will often stock up when a high-quality product is on special.
Use any dark chocolate chips of your choice: the higher the cacao percentage, the more health benefits.
If you’re looking to keep sugars lower; try using Lily’s brand chocolate that is sweetened with stevia.

Many health food stores and Amazon carry apple juice sweetened dried cranberries.
I think a sprinkle of flaky sea salt would also be really good on your chocolate bark.
- 1/3 cup uncooked quinoa
- 2 cups dark chocolate chips, melted
- 2/3 cup dried cranberries, roughly chopped
- 2 Tbsps freshly grated orange zest
- flaky sea salt
Line a large sheet pan with parchment paper.
➡️ To toast your quinoa:
Preheat a skillet over medium heat. Add in the quinoa and shake the pan to cover the bottom in a single layer.
Toast the quinoa by shaking your pan frequently for about 1-2 minutes, or until the quinoa is golden. Stay with it the entire time as quinoa can burn quickly.
Transfer your toasted quinoa to a small bowl and allow it to cool.
➡️ To melt your chocolate:
Place a heat-safe bowl over a pot with boiling water. Make sure the water doesn’t touch the bottom of the bowl.
Add in the chocolate chips and allow them to melt, stirring occasionally until smooth.
Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate chips in the microwave. Add them to a microwave-safe bowl and heat in 15-second increments until chocolate is fully melted, making sure you stir after each one.
Set aside a few pinches of each ingredient to sprinkle on top just for aesthetics (to make it prettier) if desired.
Once your toasted quinoa has cooled, add it to the bowl with your melted chocolate. Stir in the cranberries and orange zest, minus any you’re using as a topping.
Pour the chocolate mixture into the prepared sheet pan then spread into a 1/4-inch layer as shown in the video.
Sprinkle with any additional ingredients you set aside, if desired.
Refrigerate for 1 hour, or until fully set.
Slice or break your chocolate bark into pieces and serve.
